Bakery China Autumn 2026 Reports 50% Growth in International Buyers; Chengdu to Host 2027 Edition

WUHAN, CHINA – Bakery China Autumn 2026 recorded a 50% increase in international buyers, reinforcing its growing role as a business platform for the bakery, confectionery and foodservice industries. Held from October 22–24 at the Wuhan International Expo Center, the event welcomed approximately 100,000 visits from 65 countries and regions.

The 11th Bakery China Autumn was held alongside the ninth China Home Baking Show and the sixth Bakery China Summit. The three events were co-organized by the China Association of Bakery & Confectionery Industry and Bakery China Exhibitions Co., Ltd.

Under the theme “From Trends to Practice,” the exhibition focused on business profitability, emerging retail formats and sales channel development. Its programme combined exhibitions, industry conferences, professional competitions, live demonstrations, business matchmaking and consumer-oriented activities to strengthen commercial connections across the bakery value chain.

Organizers also announced that Chengdu will host Bakery China Autumn 2027, marking a strategic move to expand the exhibition's reach into China's western regional markets.

International Buyer Participation Increases by 50%

One of the key highlights of Bakery China Autumn 2026 was the 50% growth in international buyer numbers compared with the previous edition. Visitors represented six major business channels: chain stores, fresh snack retailers, independent bakeries, supermarket bakeries, industrial baking businesses and distributors.

The exhibition attracted approximately 100,000 visits from 65 countries and regions, providing a platform for international buyers to explore new products, identify suppliers and establish business partnerships.

Product categories reflected changing consumer preferences and industry developments, with exhibitors showcasing healthy baking products, regional specialty ingredients, frozen-to-fresh solutions, fresh snacks and premium chocolate.

Zhang Jiukui, president of the China Association of Bakery & Confectionery Industry, emphasized the broader role of the baking industry in the food sector.

He noted that the industry has a responsibility to support food supply, respond to evolving consumer demands and promote the development of regional specialty food products. The association will continue supporting businesses through business matchmaking, technical exchange, talent development and improvements to exhibition services.

Fresh Snack Innovation Focuses on Retail Opportunities

Fresh snack retail emerged as another major theme throughout the three-day event, reflecting the growing importance of convenient, fresh and innovative food products in the Chinese market.

A dedicated supply chain showcase presented short-shelf-life fresh food products and store conversion solutions, connecting manufacturers, ingredient suppliers and retailers.

The Fresh Snacks Innovation Competition provided a platform for businesses to introduce new product concepts, while the White Paper on China's Fresh Snack Market (2026) was officially released during the exhibition.

The fourth Business Matchmaking Event for Supermarket and Fresh Snack Decision-Makers also brought together channel buyers and suppliers to explore opportunities in product selection, contract manufacturing, distribution development and retail store conversion.

In addition, a practical workshop addressed several operational challenges facing fresh snack businesses, including loss management for short-shelf-life products, clean-label formulation development and store layout optimization.

Participants also gained insights into production quality control and industrial manufacturing standards through a visit to a production facility. Guided tours of fresh snack stores in Wuhan further connected sourcing discussions with real-world retail operations.

These activities highlighted the importance of integrating product innovation, supply chain management and retail execution to improve business performance.

Four dedicated sessions focused on sales channels, industrial baking, independent bakery operators and chain business management.

Discussions explored the development of membership-based supermarkets, new retail models for fresh food and opportunities for collaboration between fresh snack businesses and upstream ingredient suppliers.

Technical cooperation and product development were also important topics, particularly as manufacturers and retailers seek to respond to changing consumer expectations and improve operational efficiency.
