12 JUNE 2023 - Ubud, Indonesia - The Ubud Food Festival is thrilled to announce its highly anticipated three-day extravaganza, taking place from 30 June to 2 July in Ubud, Bali. With over one hundred culinary talents, including local heroes and world-class chefs, the festival guarantees an unforgettable experience. Guests can immerse themselves in cooking demonstrations, masterclasses, food discussions, film screenings, food tours, and more.

"We are incredibly proud to present an exceptional lineup of chefs, growers, writers, and foodpreneurs for this year's festival," said Janet DeNeefe, Festival Founder and Director.

"Our program features special events across Ubud's restaurants, as well as cooking demos, masterclasses, and food tours to all corners of the island. With such exciting diversity, we are undoubtedly one of Southeast Asia's leading culinary destinations."

LG Han from Singapore's Michelin-starred Labyrinth, one of the top 50 Best Restaurants, will collaborate with Nicola Russo from Capella, presenting an 8-course surprise menu inspired by local ingredients and superb flavors in the Mads Lange dining room.

Johanne Siy, Asia's Best Female Chef 2023 from Singapore's Lolla, will bring her award-winning blend of Mediterranean-meets-Philippine elegance to Mandapa, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, for an unforgettable dining experience. Canggu's beloved MASON and Tim Stapleforth, formerly of Gimlet at Cavendish

House in Melbourne, will cook up a char-grilled, action-packed barbecue on the Indus terrace at twilight, offering a modern-minded menu infused with clean, contemporary flavors.

Rahel Stephanie from Spoons and the team from crafted with W/T/Me will present jazzed-up Indonesian savory and sweet bites. Start with a chilled panel discussion moderated by food writer Prinka Saraswati, and conclude with a cool poolside party featuring Sekan of Jiwa Jiwa records.

Bali's hottest young chefs and mixologists will showcase a daring menu of modern cuisine at Apéritif. Arvin Tjandra and Ida Ayu Chinthya Dewi of Apéritif, Vallian Gunawan of SKOOL kitchen, Fernando Tendean of Club Soda, Ryan Thejasukmana of Bartolo and the new Lulu Bistrot and Jadi Rajaya, of Rempah Dining will create innovative dishes that defy expectations, paired with bespoke picture-perfect cocktails.

Teater Kuliner, the Festival's culinary stage, will be ignited with a range of cooking demos. Ragil Imam Wibowo, the winner of Jakarta's Best Eats Chef of the Year award in 2019, will showcase classic Betawi dishes from Mei Batubara's renowned cookbook,Dandang Betawi.

Laksmi DeNeefe Suardana, Ubud’s own, Puteri Indonesia 2022, will present her Gado-Gado pasta, carbonara-style, nodding to her years spent in Florence, Italy, and her Indonesian heritage.

At the Food For Thought Stage, Ayu Gayatri Kresna and Gede Kresna of Pengalaman Rasa and Rumah Intaran will share their insights on strengthening food resilience in Northern Bali by engaging local farmers and cultivating regional ingredients. The Lakota.Kujawab community from Mollo in South Central Timor, represented by activists Dicky Senda and Mama Fun, will shed light on their efforts to empower indigenous communities through food.

Reflecting on the festival's theme, 'Soil,' Wisnu Berniadi from The Learning Farm and Sintia Dewi from the Begawan Foundation will share their experiences in supporting vulnerable youth to become farming entrepreneurs and reviving the local rice-growing culture. Ramadani Yudha Prasetya from Island Organics Bali and Mauricio Camacho from Green School will discuss creating healthy soil and the economic benefits of fertile land.

"In the midst of the food industry's increasing focus on environmental sustainability, this year's festival proudly presents Bali as a premier sustainable food destination. We celebrate culinary heroes and food entrepreneurs who passionately champion practices like sourcing local and organic ingredients, reducing food waste, and offering sustainable products. Their dedication contributes to the creation of a more sustainable and resilient food system, not only in Bali but also beyond its borders," added DeNeefe.
